Lawmaker Resigns in Germany after Admitting to Falsifying CV

                   Petra Hinz

"A member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel‘s ruling coalition resigned from parliament on Wednesday after admitting to falsifying her curriculum vitae.

Petra Hinz said that she was standing down from the Bundestag as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) after more than a decade in parliament.

Report says the SPD is the junior member of Merkel’s conservative-led coalition.

Earlier in the day, lawyers for the 54-year-old Hinz said that she had invented substantial parts of her CV, including that she had completed high school and studied law.

Following Hinz’ admission, SPD representatives from her constituency in the western German city of Essen called on her to take immediate action.
